The Other Invitation

We decided early on to have two sets of invitations - a formal one for our relatives and a "fun" one for our friends.

Danz's brother Chris was the one who designed these invitations. We didn't have any mockups done for this...we just approved the caricature design and Chris did the rest. I loved it so much, and actually felt insecure about the invitations Danz and I made. Too bad we only had a few of these printed.

The Product of Our Blood, Sweat and Tears

This is a long overdue post, but things were so hectic in October and November that I hardly had time to email or blog.

After many sleepless nights, getting sick and a couple of fights, our invitations are finally finished! This was the hardest part of our preparations, and at times I wondered what I was thinking when I decided to go the DIY route. But I am really happy with the outcome, so I think all the hard work was worth it. Would I do it again? Not even if you paid me!:)

So anyway, here it is!

Main Invitation

Project Costs:

Pocketfold
Illustration Board - P133 x 12 pcs = P1596
Specialty Boards - P30 x 14 packs = P420
Taffeta - P90 x 6 yards = P540
Shantung - P70 x 8 yards = P560
Fabric Glue - P250 x 3 bottles = P750
Spray Glue - P200 x 3 cans = P600

Invitation Inserts
Specialty Boards - P50 x 14 packs= P700
Specialty Paper - P20 x 7 packs = P140

Others
Ribbon - P200 for 1 roll (used only about 1/2 roll)
Stickers - P80 for 70 pcs

Total Cost = P5586 for 70 pcs (around P80 per piece)

Other Useful Tools:
- A good paper cutter
- Xyron Sticker Maker

Tips to save on costs:
- Use Chip Board #50 (P19.50/pc can make 5 pieces of invitations) instead of illustration board (I like the weight consistency of illustration board better though)
- Use Box Board or a thinner piece of Chip Board instead of specialty board for the inner portion of the pocketfold (but the specialty board is easier to cut)

Our DIY Rosary Cord

A while back I had blogged about wanting our own Rosary Cord after seeing those of some fellow w@wies.

I finally came around to making our own cord one weekend when I got sick of making our invitations. Hehe!:)

So here it is:
(my apologies for the not so great picture, I kinda suck at taking photos)

Project Cost (approximates only):
- Swarovski Crystals
> 8mm round (12pcs x P10) = 120
> 6mm diamond cut (24pcs x P4) = 96
> 4mm diamond cut (24pcs x P2) = 48
- Freshwater pearls (109pcs x P1.875) = 204
- Metal findings (108pcs x P0.50) = 54
- High quality gold beads (226pcs x P0.50) = 113
- Swarovski Cross = 105
- 2-strand spacer = 25
TOTAL = P765

Tips to cut down on costs:
- Replace Swarovski crystals with other kinds of crystals
- Diamond Cut crystals are usually cheaper than round ones
- Use ordinary beads (about P0.10) instead of high quality ones
- Use an ordinary cross instead of a crystal one

More Things to DIY

My list of things to DIY seems to be getting longer every day. At first, it was just the Save the Dates and the Invitations. Then I realized I have to make my own Missalette. After that, it's the Table Numbers, Place Cards and Guest Sheets. And then we decided we'll have the Unity Candle Ceremony. It just goes on and on!

This week, I also decided I want a Rosary Cord. Here's a sample (of fellow w@wie, Neva):

Then today, I read about people decorating their matches! Here are some cute ones, courtesy of Iomoi:

What will I think of doing next?!?
