100 Days!!!

I checked the counter at our wedding website and found out that we have exactly 100 days to go until the big day!

Gosh, we have so much to do and so little time.:)

Since I like keeping lists, here's a list of the things we have to do (I'm sure that this list will grow longer when I meet with my coordinator again):

It's a seemingly daunting task to accomplish all of these in 100 days, but I guess I just need to give my full effort and attention into this. So that means I'll be staying away from w@w and blogging for awhile.

It's kind of funny when people remind me how near our wedding is already. It's not like I don't already know, right? But it actually helps to hear people say it out loud, because it makes me realize that I really have to get moving.

Not Meant to Be

Last week, I had a dilemma on whether I should book the makeup artist I had a trial with the other weekend. After discussing things thoroughly with Veluz last Friday (I went there to check out the sample embroidery for my gown - which was very nice!), I finally decided to book the makeup artist. So I texted him today (Monday), and lo and behold, he told me that someone booked him last Friday.

I was extremely annoyed with this news because he had never once mentioned that someone was inquiring for the same day. I can't blame him though, because I understand that he can't actually keep track of all of the inquiries and he had no idea whether or not I was going to book him anyway. I just felt a bit cheated about everything - I mean, I had spent so much time researching and then following him up and then going through the whole trial thing (thats 2k down the drain). I mean, if I had been a bit more aware of everything, I would have written a check then and there.

But as they say, hindsight is 20/20, and there's nothing I can do to change what has happened - there are a lot of could have's and would have's. All I can do now is just let it go and believe that he was just not meant to be my makeup artist. Sure, I am still a bit mad, but the sooner I get over it, the sooner I can find someone better to make me look beautiful on my wedding day. Everything happens for a reason, so surely there's a reason this happened to me.

Trial Makeup with Robbie Pinera

I had my very first trial make-up with Robbie Pinera yesterday afternoon. He's a really nice guy and he's really talented! He's done numerous shoots for Metro, Metro Weddings, Mega and Preview.

I was a bit nervous when I went to his salon because I haven't been feeling "pretty" lately. Last June, all my pimples seemed to come out one after the other, and I have all the scars to prove it.:) I guess I was feeling a bit intimidated because Robbie has worked with so many beautiful models, so I just felt I would pale in comparison - do you know what I mean?

So one of the first questions I asked him was whether all models have great skin. Haha! I was relieved when he told me that not all of them do. I also asked him for some skin care tips, and he recommeded taking some Alpha Lipoic Acid, which are anti-oxidants.

Anyway, I digress. So, getting back on track...

I wanted to have a goddess-y look, so I was thinking of soft, wavy hair and a glowing face. I also didn't want to use too much pinks.

His makeup was really light, considering that it took a couple of layers to get my face to seem flawless.:)

I'm getting mixed reactions regarding the hair and makeup. I personally loved everything. And Danz says he likes it too.:)

WaWies and the Wedding Congress

I finally met some more w@wies at the Wedding Congress last Saturday at Megamall. As Denise mentioned, its always nice to meet people with whom you can talk non-stop about weddings!

I didn't go around the bridal fair too much because there are only a few more suppliers that I need. But I did chance upon the booth of Maria's Sundries - their chocolate display caught my eye since I've been thinking of buying chocolates to add to the dessert buffet. I tasted one of the dark chocolates and it was sooooo good...pure Belgian chocolates. The chocolates cost P2.70 to P3.00 PER GRAM. So the heart shaped one that I ate, which weighs 7 grams, costs about P20. I guess that's not bad, because I once gave my brother a small box of chocolates from Leonidas for his birthday and it cost me P800 for just 5 pieces.

I'm Finished!

How I wish I could say that about the preparations! But what I'm actually referring to is the last Harry Potter book....I've finished reading it at last, after three nights of not sleeping.

I dropped everything related to the wedding just to finish reading the book - the batch of invitations I was planning to assemble, the quest to find a supplier of candies, checking w@w emails...And honestly, it was quite refreshing! It felt great to be able to escape from the "chaos" and just get lost in a different world...even for just a few days.

Now it's time for me to finish the job at hand. Just a few more suppliers to find, and then I can finally relax a bit. And maybe I can re-read the book at a more relaxed pace.

Cake Tasting!

I had my very first cake-tasting this evening with Gervy (of Gervy's Amazing Cakes). It was really enjoyable, not just because of her yummy cakes, but because of all her funny stories!

I didn't really plan on staying for long since I wasn't familiar with the area (her house is in QC), but I still ended up staying at her house for over an hour! On a side note, I just need to ask why are all the suppliers I want from QC? Fotogra, Kaye Cunanan, Playback...Good thing Veluz is near my place!

She gave me six different cakes - white chocolate, mocha, lemon, dark chocolate, marble and apple walnut (I think). She also has carrot cake, but it wasn't available earlier...But that was ok, since I don't like carrot cake anyway. Then she gave me three different fillings - vanilla (I think), mocha (kahlua) and chocolate. She also gave me a bit of white chocolate to taste with the cakes, because the cake I like would be covered in white chocolate bricks, like this:

So while tasting the different cakes and matching them with the different fillings, Gervy explained to me how she makes her cakes and told me all sorts of stories.

She told me that I can have different cakes and fillings for each layer! Which was just perfect because I just couldn't decide which flavors I wanted. For now, I'm thinking of keeping it simple and just having matching flavors and fillings - Mocha with the Kahlua filling, Chocolate with Chocolate and Lemon and Vanilla (okay, maybe this doesn't match exactly, but I just needed a layer that was not chocolate-y).

I wasn't able to finish all the cakes she served me (partly because I had a tummy ache from the Mocha Frap I had earlier), so she let me take them home. Yumyum! I know what I'll be having for dessert tomorrow.

Maybe I should schedule other cake tastings, just so that I can eat cake. Haha! I just need to be careful so that I would still fit into my gown.:)

Candy Buffet

One of the things I really really want to have for our wedding is a candy buffet! Its basically just having different kinds of candy in glass jars, like this:

It can actually serve as giveaways as well...we just need to come up with nice paper bags (or whatever container to put the candies in) such as this:


My problem with this was finding where I could buy purple and gold (or yellow) candies in Manila.

Then today, I was paying for some groceries (read: chocolate and junk food) at the supermarket, and I saw a bag of dark chocolate Hershey's kisses. And what do you know...they were wrapped in purple foil!:)

So now, I'm thinking...should I have one or not? Would anyone even touch the candies from a candy buffet?
